MADE IN THE USA: TRADITIONS & INNOVATIONS
A special preview of Richmond Ballet's first international tour to London
June 6*-9, 2012
Richmond Ballet Studio Theatre
6:30 pm curtain

Don't miss the chance to send off Richmond Ballet in their international debut at a special preview run of Made in the USA: Traditions & Innovations.

Valse Fantaisie
is George Balanchine’s joyful tribute to the classical style, with waltz music by Glinka – a curtain-raising whirlwind of continuous movement by one man and five ballerinas. John Butler’s After Eden perfectly exemplifies this prolific and versatile choreographer’s trademark combination of classic and contemporary styles through a stunning dance narrative of Adam and Eve’s exile from the Garden of Eden.  Ershter Vals was created for Richmond Ballet by award-winning Chinese-American choreographer Ma Cong.  Inspired by both Hollywood’s World War II films and the sounds of Klezmer music, its poignant imagery celebrates the triumph of the human spirit.  Swipe, the thrilling climax to the programme, comes from one of today’s leading American choreographers, Val Caniparoli.  Another Richmond Ballet commission, Swipe is an exhilarating classical and contemporary dance fusion set to a genre-bending electro-remix of Londoner Gabriel Prokofiev’s String Quartet No.2.  Don’t miss Richmond Ballet’s international debut representing the best of American dance –  it promises to be an evening of enjoyment, inspiration, and revelation!
