Donor Relations Manager

The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, securing, tracking and following up on all individual giving. The capacity to build relationships with individuals who are interested in the arts and more specifically dance is crucial to the role. The DRM represents Richmond Ballet at donor events, through individual meetings and by written means directed at both individuals and groups. The position requires a willingness to engage individuals to determine their interests in connecting with RB and reports to the Development Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with individual donors through creative solicitations, direct communication and facilitation of donor events.
• Carefully track individual giving and follow donor habits to make sound projections for individual donations.
• Serve as staff liaison to Individual Development Committee.
• Oversee direct mail solicitations.
• Plan appropriate benefits for each giving level and execute delivery, invitations and follow ups.
• Coordinate with donors for accurate gift recognition in season playbill.
• Create call lists for dancers, board trustees and advisory council members.
• Coordinate with board trustees to personalize solicitations and follow ups.
• Utilize phone calls, emails and in person meetings to deepen connections with current donors and cultivate new prospects.
• Conduct building tours for donors/prospects.
• Attend performances as RB development representative.
• Work with marketing team to create invitations and video campaigns.
• Maintain call records and email correspondences through database.
• Other duties as assigned by the Development Director.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

•  A Bachelor’s degree is required; a knowledge of performing arts is preferred.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• At least three years’ experience in fundraising/development and/or customer service
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple, ongoing projects
• Proven efficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with fundraising database applications

This is a salaried, exempt position requiring some night and weekend work. Eligible for full benefits package including health, dental, retirement and PTO.
