The Minds In Motion (MIM) Teaching Artist provides instruction at Minds In Motion schools in both the full-year program and residency programs, as well as the after-school scholarship programs. This position includes creation of choreography for all MIM programs, including by not limited to, full-year program culminating performances, residency program performances, and summer camps/programs. This position reports to the Minds In Motion Director and requires ongoing collaboration with fellow Teaching Artists and Musicians.
Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible for teaching for the full year Minds In Motion program in area schools
• Conducting training for Minds In Motion after-school scholarship programs, Team XL and Ambassadors
• Teaching Minds In Motion summer camps and / or XL Summer Dance Experience and residencies as assigned by the MIM Director
• Choreographing school dances for the Minds In Motion full year program, scholarship programs and summer camps
• Participating in the crafting of large group Opening and Finale dances for the Culminating performances
• Attend weekly meetings for staff development, curriculum preparation and choreography
• Maintains clear and detailed lesson plans and outcomes for every assigned school
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the job classification.
Education/ Experience:
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a team
• Enthusiasm for Richmond Ballet’s mission
• Imaginative, creative, and responsive attitude toward youth and community engagement
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; focused and goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy
• Available to work weekends and evenings
Salary Range: $20.00 per hour
