Richmond Ballet, The State Ballet of Virginia, is looking for a Public Relations & Content Manager to join our collaborative team of arts professionals.
Working with the Marketing & Communications Director, the Public Relations & Content Manager establishes and deepens community networks and organizes promotional events and community partnerships to increase institutional awareness and ticket sales.
The PR & Content Manager is responsible for all media relations activities, including writing press releases, pitching story ideas, and managing media inquiries and interview requests.
This role coordinates the Ballet’s grassroots marketing efforts. As part of these efforts, the PR & Content Manager researches and connects with businesses and organizations throughout the Commonwealth to establish community partnerships, speaking engagements, and promotional opportunities. This position represents the Ballet at community events, helping to increase overall awareness of all aspects of the organization.
This role is also responsible for crafting and executing the Ballet’s social media plan. The PR & Content Manager works closely with the company photographer and videographer to create dynamic digital content with the goal of keeping followers engaged, attracting new followers, and connecting a broader audience to Richmond Ballet.
Additional responsibilities include writing copy for eblasts and other marketing collateral as well as acting as the central point to collect playbill content and manage playbill advertising.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of two to three years’ experience in marketing/public relations.
Applicant must possess strong writing, editing, and communication skills and should have some experience in event planning and social media.
Journalism, communications, marketing degree or other similar is preferred.
Dance experience and/or knowledge of the art form are a plus.
Most importantly, our PR & Content Manager must be able to effectively communicate the organization’s mission and artistic quality to the media and the public while attaining or exceeding marketing objectives.
