SRB Ensembles present Appalachian Spring and The Sleeping Beauty Suite
In this student version of Appalachian Spring, audiences will experience Aaron Copland’s familiar, sweeping score through the eyes of a pioneer village gathering during the Spring season to celebrate community, nature and barn-raising. The Shaker melody, Simple Gifts, is part of the celebration at the end of the day’s labor as everyone gathers for the community picnic.
Audiences will be treated to highlights from Tchaikovsky’s The Sleeping Beauty including the Fairy variations bestowing their gifts upon the Princess Aurora, the Garland Dance, and fairy tale characters such a Hop ‘O My Thumb and Puss ‘n Boots in this abbreviated suite for young people.
