Sharing the power of dance across Virginia
Realizing one of Richmond Ballet’s core beliefs – that dance has a special and unique power to enrich lives and reinforce community bonds – we actively engage students, teachers, and audience members around the Commonwealth and beyond in a shared experience of dance. Our acclaimed Minds In Motion program reaches students not only on a year-long basis in Richmond, but also with our residencies throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and abroad in Israel, as our specially-trained teaching artists and musicians lead elementary school students through dynamic choreography culminating in public performances.
Lecture Demonstrations bring in-school adaptations of classic ballets and the language of dance to Virginia elementary school students, while youth performances of The Nutcracker and our annual story ballet introduce professional productions to K-12th graders in Central Virginia and Hampton Roads. Each year our community engagement programs expose 25,000+ children to the universal language of dance, opening them to possibilities they may never have imagined.
