Upper Division - Richmond Ballet

Upper Division

Ages 14–18 / Fall registration coming soon!

Reaching Your Potential

Once students have achieved an advanced standard of classical ballet technique, the faculty places them in the School of Richmond Ballet Upper Division. The Upper Division features course options of ballet instruction, varying in intensity, for students ages 14-18. Options are designed to provide the pre-professional training needed to pursue either a professional ballet career or a college dance major. Training includes a continuing emphasis on classical ballet technique and additional classes in modern, character dance, and theatre dance. Performance opportunities with the SRB Ensemble and in Richmond Ballet professional company productions play an important role in this division. Tuition for Upper level ballet classes includes two tickets for the Richmond Ballet performances of Carmina Burana at Carpenter Theatre in September 2023.

Note: Advancement through the Upper Division is based on a student’s level of skill and accomplishment, not his or her age. New students with previous training must be placed by the School of Richmond Ballet faculty prior to the start of the fall session. Students already enrolled in the School of Richmond Ballet are placed according to ability.
