Once students have achieved an advanced standard of classical ballet technique, the faculty places them in the School of Richmond Ballet Upper Division. The Upper Division features two course options of ballet instruction, varying in intensity, for students ages 14-18. Both options are designed to provide the pre-professional training needed to pursue either a professional ballet career or a college dance major. Training includes a continuing emphasis on classical ballet technique and additional classes in modern, character dance, and theatre dance. Performance opportunities with the SRB Ensemble and in Richmond Ballet professional company productions play an important role in this division. Tuition for Upper level ballet classes includes one ticket for the Richmond Ballet performances featuring Serenade and Firebird in February 2022, and one ticket to an assigned Studio Theatre performance.
