Costume Coordinator

The Costume Coordinator leads and provides hands‐on assistance with costumes to dancers of both the professional company and School of Richmond Ballet during the performance season. During non-performance weeks, this position will be required to act as stitcher in the costume shop or in another costume‐related field as determined by the Costume Shop Supervisor. They are additionally tasked with the upkeep and organization of wardrobe stock, including rentals.

Job Responsibilities:

• Coordinates costume rentals, both incoming and outgoing;
• Assists First Hand in creating travel show practices for ballets rentals;
• Reviews all costumes prior to each performance;
• Assists with costumes load‐in, strike, and dressing as assigned;
• Assists dancers with costume needs;
• Responsible for maintenance of show costumes including laundry and repair;
• Performs pre‐show setup and post‐show clean up;
• Performs emergency costume repairs as necessary;
• Attends fittings and rehearsals as needed;
• Ensures proper placement of costume pieces prior to show;
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment;
• Generates any necessary paperwork for wardrobe crew to include: costume repair sheets, dresser tracks and show schedules;
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are within the scope of the job.
Education/ Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Arts/ Theater with focus on costume and design
• 3+ years previous costume experience
• 3 years’ backstage costume experience preferred with dance experience preferred
