Ira White, native to Richmond, VA, discovered his love for dance through Richmond Ballet’s Minds In Motion program. Soon after, he began his training at School of Richmond Ballet (SRB) and rose through the ranks of the school. During his 12 years dancing professionally (three years in RBII and nine in the main company) he has had the privilege of working with many renowned choreographers, including Carmen de Lavallade, Jennifer Archibald, and Val Caniparoli as well as performing classics by John Butler, George Balanchine, and Jerome Robbins. He has also had the pleasure to be a part of Virginia Repertory Theatre’s productions of In the Heights, working with Emmy-nominated choreographer Karla Garcia, and The Wiz. In addition to dancing, Ira teaches Theatre Dance to SRB students and to other students in the local dance community. He is excited to share his knowledge and passion for dance with the next generation of performers.
