A World Premiere by Ma Cong

Mozartiana is George Balanchine’s final masterpiece that many believe was done as a farewell to his beloved ballerina Suzanne Farrell. Comprised of a series of elegant dances, Mozartiana is set to Tchaikovsky’s moving musical tribute to Mozart. The ballet’s beautiful steps – both purely classical and, yet, unmistakably crafted by Balanchine – intertwine to form a profound work that is one of the legendary choreographer’s best.

Closing the season is a world premiere by Associate Artistic Director Ma Cong. Cong’s captivating works are celebrated for their musicality and humanity, creating remarkable experiences that stay with audiences long after leaving the theatre. This ballet, his tenth for Richmond Ballet, is sure to follow form.

Dreams come to life as Clara travels with the Nutcracker Prince to the magical kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy. December marks the first revival of Artistic Director Stoner Winslett’s brand-new, much-loved production of The Nutcracker. With 17 performances in the grand Carpenter Theatre, there promises to be a magical Nutcracker moment for everyone!

Please note: Each guest age 2 and up must have a ticket. Single ticket prices are subject to change based on availability. 

Ballet For All

Through the generous support of corporate sponsors, a number of tickets will be underwritten for select performances of The Nutcracker as part of Richmond Ballet’s new community ticket program, Ballet for All. Ballet for All provides access to live performing arts experiences for select Richmond-based non-profit organizations and the members they serve who are unable to attend the ballet due to financial and/or other barriers. This initiative will not only offer access to those in need but will support the building of a diverse community of dance patrons.
